The start-up of the OMF tradition – in Vladivostok 2002 – was dedicated in memory of Kenneth Hudson, a great professional and person, as well as a founder of EMYA-EMF.
The key event of the Open Museum Forum was awarding the best museum communication project in the last seven years. The topical framework of the museum award was described as exploration of the future. The object of the search was to find the best examples of professional cultural practice, it terms of quality and space, for the cultural exploration of the future.
The Open Museum Forum is the tool for the tracing the recent museum innovations in Russia. The OMF is liiking for the projects containing new meanings and languages, which have had a considerable impact on the contraru those, which somehow remained unconspiciuous.
As usual, the expert assessment of the project during the contest was performed as open “master-class”.
The winners were invited to the annual festival The Best In Heritage in September next year to present their projects in detail. The Best In Heritage conference started in 2002 as a meeting of hte winners of heritage and culture prizes around the world.
